I have had this Suzuko Koseki book for awhile now and I knew the first piece I wanted to make was her cherry blossoms appliqué. I decided I might as well start today :)
It was easy, fun, and most importantly, didn’t hurt my arms :) I think it’s destiny will be for a tote for one of my birthday swap girls, but I’m not saying who *teehee*.
I haven’t really reviewed books on here before but I have found this one to be so helpful that I wanted to share. It is called Sewing to Sell: How to Sell Locally and Online and is written by Virginia Lindsay.
As you can see by my many post-it notes stuck in the top, I really liked what it had to say. Virginia takes you through all the steps you need to think about when establishing a business and then also provides 16 patterns which you can make your own and sell for profit. What I learned most was to think about how complicated a piece really needs to be when it comes to time and money invested in a product. Is patchwork worth my time and effort or will two fabrics suffice.
You can buy the book (with free shipping) through my affiliate link to the Book Depository over on my right hand column :) This review is totally me, I don’t even know Virginia but I was really impressed with this book.
I have joined a birthday swap with a group of close friends. Every month the “birthday girl” of the month receives packages from everyone else. Things can be handmade and/or purchased. It is something I have been looking forward to for awhile. I sent off my first package and it was very well received!
I made a table runner using the Fancy Fox pattern from Oh Fransson! This was a seriously fun pattern to make and I will be making many more I am sure! Karen, the recipient, loves Lizzy House fabrics so four of the five fabrics are hers. I finished this quite a bit before Christmas so it is nice to finally be able to show it off :)
