More oven mitts

I have been having a lot of fun with these, which is good because I just got another order!

These are American Jane fabric, one of my favourite deisgners.

These ones are such fun in person, the colour is off in this picture.

These ones are a special gift for my cousin who gifted me this amazing fabric (I made a great top out of it for me!).

Some more Denyse Schmidt fabric.

Mountains of oven mitts

My Mom is going to the 100th birthday of the town she grew up in and asked me to make some oven mitts for several family members. It started at 3 sets and now is up to 6 lol. I only have three finished so far and here they are.

A little Denyse Schmidt fabric works great in the kitchen!

IMG_3154

Some more Denyse Schmidt from her Joann’s line. (I spy an interloper, do you?)

This is my favourite set, made with Anna Maria Horner and some Lizzy House mini pearl bracelets.

The other ones will be finished in the next few days and I will post them as well. Hope you liked seeing what I am working on!

Hey Sailor!

Fancy Tiger Crafts have a great pattern for a top called the Sailor Top. I hemmed and hawed about the pattern for awhile until my friend Pam posted a picture of one she made and I went and made one up right away. Now I have finished 3 of them and here they are!

IMG_2400

This one is using a print from Alison Glass’ Handcrafted line.

IMG_2465

This is using a great yellow fabric from Joann’s.

And this is the softest, being made from Bespoke double gauze by Cotton + Steel.

I have a couple of other patterns that I have been making from lately so I will try and share them here soon as well.

Pop it in your purse, Honey!

My friend Berene of Happy Sew Lucky just came out with a new pattern and it is adorable and clever all rolled into one! It is a paper-pieced pattern with a twist.

IMG_2934

The pattern comes in both 4” and 6” sizes and with a needlebook pattern… but that still isn’t the coolest part!

IMG_2933

It opens in to a real pocket!! It is so cleverly designed, just amazing. I increased the 6” pattern by 120% so that it could fit a gift card… fun right?

Be sure to check Berene’s shop, she has great patterns, including embroidery, and she designs pre-printed sewing projects that are super cute!

Great patterns!

Every so often I come across someone who has a creative mind that just makes me smile. One of these people is Lorna McMahon of Sew Fresh Quilts. I love Lorna’s quilts and have featured a couple on my Caught My Eye segments. Below are four of my favourites. You can click on the picture to be taken to her pattern shop. I do receive a small fee if you click from my link, but I would advertise them anyway!

The colours in this quilt work so well together, but I also love its versatility. One could easily change this up for more gender specific colours, or even have a ton of fun with scraps.

I love the cool feeling this one gives, but I also love simple patterns with big impacts and this is one of those.

I love both of these and I have always enjoyed seeing how different a block can look depending on what values you use in each area!

This one is one of my favourite patterns ever! I just think that it is so fun and cozy looking!

I hope you enjoyed discovering a new designer, or seeing which ones are my favourite if you already know Lorna’s work!
