We have a winner!

Congratulations to Quilary! I have sent you an email, so please let me know your snail mail address!

March NewFO

Wowzers... 1/4 of the year gone already... it always amazes me when I realize things like that LOL. So, onto my March NewFO's :)

First up I started on my nephews Skull quilt by doing all the cutting... this has made me realize that I need a higher cutting surface... am pondering that.

Next up, I started a baby quilt. There will be white strips in between each row, I just ran out of room on the "design wall" LOL.

I also have a market tote about half-way done. No pictures as it is inside-out at the moment and I'm sure you don't need to see that. :)

A beautiful sight

My mom has sent me a photo of my niece trying on the dress and extras I bought her. It is a little long but they'll get it taken up. Isn't she just the most beautiful girl ever? Love her :)

Maddysen, my 11 year old niece :)

Thanks

For those of you who have sent me words of encouragement, thank you. Honestly, just writing the post helps, knowing that people know that the outside sometimes is better together than the inside. I appreciate all of you, and now the blog will return to it's regular state :)

March ALYoF

So, my goal for March was to get the cutting done for my nephew's skull quilt and I did it!! I really didn't think it would happen but I sat my butt down on Sunday morning and just kept going :)

So in the big bag are all of my 12.5" pieces, and then all the other sizes are in their own sandwich bag with a note of size. I have decided that I am going to try and do this QAYG because I really don't want to baste something this big, but basting just a backing isn't as daunting LOL!!

A Lovely Year of Finishes

hard times

I'm not very good at talking to people... but I am struggling a lot lately. I guess I figure if I let someone know, even if through here, it might help.

My PTSD is still around. And how do you explain to people that seemingly normal everyday things send me straight around the bend. So instead I just try to not crawl out of my own skin and hope I can escape as soon as I can. I almost didn't make it at work today but I managed to keep the sane look on the outside... it gets so tiring... yet funnily enough, I have the worst time trying to sleep.

Keeping my anger in check gets harder and harder, and then of course so does the accompanying anger at myself for being angry. I still struggle with my memory and that really frustrates me. I have ceased to even give a crap about my house (still full of my Dad's stuff) and so then I start to hate it and then myself more.

I'm not asking for sympathy... I just needed to say some things... in fact, if I can figure out how to stop comments on this post I will.

Possibly I am part Gypsy...

I was asked to purchase a dress for my niece's 6th grade graduation prom. Talk about pressure!! To start with, I had less than a week before my Mom needs to take it up North with her, and I have never been to a prom, nor bought something so important for someone. At the same time, I am thrilled to be a part of this, I miss being with the kids all the time and being a part of their lives.

After a few website searches and a couple of long phone calls comparing notes I went out to a bridal store here in town to find the dress. My Mom probably will regret not coming with me as she'll never see me in a bridal store again LOL!! I found a gorgeous dress and many accessories. My niece LOVES her bling and so I wanted to get her a sparkly sash to add to her dress... well, that was $80 I wasn't willing to spend. So I spent $12 on a plain sash and went to Michael's (conveniently across the way) and bought some supplies.

I seriously felt like the Stanley girls from Gypsy Sisters! I do have to admit it was fun though and I could have kept going, but was afraid I would end up with the whole thing covered :)

This is the finished piece... I sure hope she loves it, and that it doesn't fall apart LOL! I will share a picture of the dress once my Mom takes it to her and I can share my niece as well :)

Meow!

I have a few swaps coming up and in one I have a partner who is a friend and who has a little toddler. I haven't started on her project yet but I made her child (trying not too let too many clues out lol) this cute lil' guy.

The pattern is from this website http://shinyhappyworld.bigcartel.com/. I discovered it somehow through the blog hop going on right now... someone must have had a link... and I found lots of fun things there. I hope to buy some of the gorgeous tea towels to embroider one day, but am still not wanting to pay the $20 shipping. I do wish more people were willing to go to the trouble of going to a post office like most countries rather than do postage paid, but it is what it is :)

I hope all my North American counterparts survive the extra-early Monday morning tomorrow... sleep well!

Marching to my goals

So once again I am committing to finishing something by the end of the month. This one will be a bit of a struggle for me because I don't have a proper cutting table and it kills my back. I am going to finish cutting all of the fabric I need for my nephew's Skeleton Quilt.

My Mom has told me that since it is a skeleton she refuses to take it up North with her when she goes at the end of the month. BWahahahaha! I love that she thinks it will anywhere near finished by then LOL! Plus, I am determined to have her look at it from his point of view and agree it is perfect for him :)
